Catchathon 2023 Results are in!!🎉

This year’s Catchathon is finally in the books! Not bad, for our first Catchathon in 2 years, aye?

Thank you so much to everyone who participated. We had a blast and we hope you did, too!

We sent out surveys so you could tell us where in the world you all are. This year we covered 5 continents and 18 countries (that we know of 😉).

5 continents and 18 countries!!

We had such a fun time getting to see everyone on the Final Hour online hangout. Check out this short video to meet some of our Catchers!

There was some great camaraderie as we all came together to help advance Alzheimer’s research, that’s for sure! So how did we do? With 91 (70) Catchers and 33 teams, we were able to annotate 81,962 research vessels. That totals 2 months, 20 days, and 7.5 hours of lab equivalent-analysis in only 1 WEEK!

But what about the Final Hour?? During the 1 hour online hangout, Catchers across the world were able to annotate 3,404 research vessels and 5,058 total vessels. That means in 1 hour, we were able to do almost 4 and a half days of lab-equivalent research!!

We had people all across different time zones playing with us during the Catchathon, but who were our heavy lifters? Coming in first, we had starider with 53,797,101 points. Caparom took second with 20,000,806 points. In 3rd place, we had sean4046 with 13,5099,775 points. Here are our top five players:

Big shout out to UniqueMappers, who had the most people on one team playing in this Catchathon.

You can check out all the team rankings below, and you can go to this link  for a closer look at everyone’s stats.

(HOWEVER, if you were on Team Humanity and didn’t join another team, you won’t show up on that chart due to a glitch😬).

Here's a list of all the teams that participated:

We have completed over 2/3rds of the dataset as of this blog post, which is AMAZING! Thank you to everyone who took part in this Catchathon. We can’t wait for the next one! Keep an eye out for more opportunities for double points, in the mean time.

Happy Catching!
