Two weeks into our Global Catchathon for Stall Catchers' tenth birthday, the leaderboard has turned into a real race. Luckily, we have a correspondent on the case. Mike Capraro, better known as super catcher caprarom, is a longtime volunteer. In 2018 he became the first catcher to reach a

The First Annual “Stalling Summit”

What happens when world class Alzheimer’s researchers and stroke researchers put their heads together to help each other?  Among other things, they turn to Stall Catchers with some new requests for help from our loyal community of catchers! Researchers from Cornell University, Boston University, and the Human Computation Institute

Join our Beta-test (no pun intended) by playing our new citizen science game to speed up Alzheimer's research. The first 100 participants to complete the study and answer a short survey will receive an Amazon gift card.

HCI Convergence: So What Happened??

As we reflect on the winter festivities here in Ithaca, we think of the closeness of family and friends this time of year. The warmth of these connections reminds us of the camaraderie within our Human Computation Institute (HCI) team when we traveled to Denmark early last year. We are

About

Caprarom visited us in the lab… and so can you!

Ok, so we can't invite all 40,000 catchers to meet us at the office, but we wanted to show you around. Mike Capraro, whom you may know from the Stall Catchers leaderboard as Caprarom, visited us to celebrate our fifth anniversary and joined us on a tour

Microsoft’s annual Giving Campaign - a time of year when volunteering blooms

Last month alone, the Stall Catchers community grew by 1,167 new catchers!  And there’s a great reason for this - October is Microsoft’s annual Giving Campaign, during which employees rally to volunteer their time for a cause that feels important to them.  This year, Microsoft invited Stall

Meet the bot authors - Roman Solovyev and his bot “ZFTurbo”!

The Bot study in Stall Catchers just ended.  We have already discussed bots so much. Players constantly saw bot names on the leaderboard. And the bots analyzed so much data. And still - even bots themselves were just machines, they were all created by great and talented people! To get

Stall Catchers turns 5!

Though the public launch of Stall Catchers on October 1, 2016 may seem like the beginning of the project to many catchers, for me it was also the end of a long road toward developing the concept and finding a suitable funding partner.  This process began on February 11, 2014
